Dr. Ker had stayed in America for 9 years in the 80's and obtained his medical qualification in B.A. (HONS) (U.S.A.), M.D. (U.S.A.) and subsequently M.B.A (U.K.). Mrs. Ker, On the other hand, stayed in England for 6 years and attained her law qualification in LLB (HONS) London, and Barrister-at-law (Lincoln's Inn).

After returning to Malaysia, the couple transferred their love for Western country cottages into budget hotels designed and built by them. In order to emulate the cottages in the west, the couple ensured that their budget hotels are country-like, homely, warm, cosy, and classy.

The first Rose Cottage Hotel outlet was established in 1997, in the housing estate of Taman Johor Jaya, Johor Bahru. Born out of a vision to give new definitions and standards in the budget hotel industry of Malaysia, Rose Cottage Hotel is committed to provide a clean, comfortable, and pleasurable staying experience to its customers.

Within a span of twelve years, eight hotel outlets flourished one after another. Today, our hotel company has developed into chain budget hotel business with our own exclusive brand name. Our eight budget hotels are located at different strategic parts of Johor Bahru Township. Chronologically, they are at Taman Johor Jaya, Taman Universiti, Taman Nusa Damai, Taman Nusa Bestari 2, Taman Daya, Taman Perling, Bandar Seri Alam, and Taman Impian Senai.
For the past few years, our hotel managers and directors have participated in the training courses organised by the Malaysia Budget Hotel Association (MBHA), with Mrs Ker as the office bearer for the association (Johor Chapter). In the year 2006, our budget hotel was awarded one star classification by the ministry of tourism. These achievements helped to boost our image in the hotel industry.

Undoubtedly, the success of an organization does not depend on the effort of one individual, but on a team of workforce. Likewise, throughout the past 13 years, Rose Cottage Hotel was fortunate to have a good team of workers who worked towards a common goal. We are thankful to our past employees who have contributed to the establishment and success of our organisation. More importantly, we are full of gratitude towards our present workforce and management team who stayed with us through thick and thin, especially in times of troubles and crisis. Their dedication, perseverance, and diligence had enabled our company to attain a greater heights and horizons.

Apart from the aforesaid, our success factor lies in our ability to provide a safe, secure, uncomplicated, peaceful and pleasant environment for our hotel guests. Much effort had been put into avoiding vice activities in our hotels. We are also cautious in our selection of customers.

It is our company policy not to provide short-time service as such service could be frequently misused or abused by customers for undesired activities.
